What is Autism
Have you ever encountered a kid who does not respond to any greeting or pleasant gestures you do? Autism is the case when a child fails to make a connection between him and the environment. Decades of different research efforts and strategies have established links between autism and failure to communicate. As experts would attest, and as can be directly observed, problems about autism occur when there is evident failure on the side of the child to communicate. You see, communication is a very vital and necessary process especially during the child’s formative and development stage.
To clearly illustrate the need for effective communication, imagine yourself being in an environment where you are not able to understand what people are saying and where others do not understand what you are saying. The frustration and the inability to link with others would alienate you from the rest of the community.
You may feel like you are different from the rest, and evidently, all people would apparently feel the same towards you. That is how autism is. The child is not able to process communication signals, variables and messages from people around him. Autistic children often would prefer to be left alone and they would enjoy being alone.
There is also another characteristic that is evident to children with autism. Those kids would have a fixation for their toys and other items. Autistic kids want to stick to their routines. They may seem a bit meticulous but is commonly observed that when they own something, they always want everything in order. Autistic children usually fall into tantrums when they notice their things disturbed or disarrange.
Autism prevents children from processing normally practical and instinctively understandable behavior. For example, autistic kids would not be able to process and understand what a smile may mean, whereas normal kids would instinctively find the gesture pleasurable and respond in an equally positive manner.
Exact causes of autism are not exactly determined, although studies suggest that it is hereditary or can be influenced by the structures of genes. Autism can be cured by tedious and patient therapy sessions. It is important that signs of autism be determined and identified as early as possible so that proper and appropriate measures to curtail the condition can be immediately implemented. Autism can be a serious situation especially if the autistic child would not undergo proper and recommended therapy and treatment.
