Autism Awareness

In the United States, autism awareness is raised to the next level. With the onset of the upcoming presidential elections, political parties and presidential candidates are striving to introduce proposed legislations to help increase autism awareness. To be particular, candidate Hillary Clinton of the Democratic Party has announced plans to significantly raise autism awareness funds in the United States to as large as $700 million annually. Imagine how much autism efforts that would make! Other countries should take heed.

It is estimated that worldwide, about six of every 1,000 young kids aged three years old and below are being diagnosed to have manifestations and signs of having autism. As parents start to become quite aware of the need for proper diagnosis and treatments, the number is rising.

In the past, there has been speculation that autism cases are already high but that not a great number of autistic children and cases are diagnosed and are revealed for records. That can be attributed to the fact that there have been stigma to families and parents who have autistic children. Thanks to a little growth in awareness, people are now starting to see differently.

There is a need to further increase autism awareness because doing so would help make efforts to combat and cure autism rise. Now, there are treatments and therapies that are effective in treating the disorder. But did you know that the exact cause of autism is yet to be ascertained and identified? It is true.

That means, there must be several more studies to make such studies continue. Research projects are naturally and logically expensive. So imagine how such studies would push if adequate funding is deprived. Governments are now starting to pour more investments into such initiatives. Better, private sectors are also contributing to their best efforts to help fund such projects.

Not all people are aware of the severity and seriousness about problems over autism. While there are misconceptions that the disorder would naturally cease and go away as the child grows old, there are also wrong beliefs that autism is contagious. Autistic children also have rights.

If they would be kept and not given the chance to grow up and develop normally like most kids do, they are being deprived of their rights to basic and normal living. Through upgraded autism awareness, peoples’ perception about the disorder would be modified and geared towards the positive side.
