Early Signs of Autism

Studies have shown that on the global average, two out of 1,000 young children are exhibiting signs of autism, a mind development disorder in growing children. The disorder can show up and be manifested by children under the age of three years old. Through tedious years of study and actual experiences, it has been found that indeed, autism can be treated and corrected. However, there is only one outstanding condition and that is if such treatment measures are done earlier. Autistic children under the age of three years old are found to be more susceptible to responding positively to therapies and other autism treatments. To do so, you need to identify early signs of autism that may be exhibited by your child.

There are five popular and well circulated early signs of autism that are familiar to some parents. Before starting to look for such early symptoms, take note that you should be observant enough especially when looking at these early signs of autism especially in infants or toddlers. Here are the five most common early signs of autism.

  1. The baby does not respond when called by name. Normally, babies learn to orient towards people who regularly calls them by name. Notice that in normal babies, by the time they reach four months to one year old age, babies are able to look at anyone who is calling them by their names.

  1. The baby seems not to develop ‘joint attention’. Joint attention happens when infants normally start to shift focus from their toys to people. Thus, babies who are playing with their toys would seem not to mind any other thing at all when they play. Even your calls and other usually disturbing sounds are neglected.

  1. The child fails to exhibit signs that he is imitating others. Typically, growing infants learn to mimic others. Notice that normal babies can be taught how to utter words or make simple and cute actions through teaching them directly into mannerisms or practices.

  1. The autistic child seems not to emotionally respond to messages given by others. Through experiments and observations, it has been proven that infants and young kids may be able to show compassion and pity on their early years. If your infant does not pass through this stage, then something must be really wrong.

  1. The child seems not to enjoy and devise certain plays and make-believe situations. Some children diagnosed with early signs of autism would not be able to express excitement and happiness.

Take note of such early signs of symptoms for they might be present in your child. Provide proper and appropriate treatment and medications especially when there are urgent and other important items that are always on the go.
